The importance of refrigeration equipment maintenance

Our pre-programmed maintenance schedules (PPM) are designed for each piece of refrigeration or process cooling equipment, ensuring potential problems are identified and rectified to ensure systems continue to perform optimally.
Refrigeration equipment has to maintain precise temperature conditions, minimising the risk of deterioration and contamination – especially for the cold storage of medicines.

Any temperature deviations outside of the strict ranges recommended by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulator Agency (MHRA), or the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), risks spoiling products and causing major financial losses.

ICE has accumulated vast experience in this sector over many years, and has designed its refrigeration maintenance and repair service to ensure your equipment remains compliant and your high-value products protected.

Did you know…?

It’s a legal requirement for companies to test for leaks on refrigeration or process cooling equipment.

The number of checks required depends on the CO2 equivalent weight:

5 to 50 tonnes of CO2: Needs to be checked for leaks every 12 months
50 to 500 tonnes of CO2: Needs to be checked every six months
More than 500 tonnes of CO2 – Needs to be checked every three months (and leak detection equipment installed)

Every refrigeration maintenance contract with ICE includes our F gas compliance package.

How we work

We don’t just prioritise your call; we have the flexibility to shift planned work, making sure the right expertise arrives when you need it most.

During our first visit to you for on-site maintenance, every piece of equipment will receive an ICE tag with a unique asset code.

Our engineers then create a full asset list for your location, detailing the refrigerant type and quantity, and calculating the CO2 equivalent weight.

A maintenance checklist is drawn up and completed based on the type of equipment being serviced; we don’t use a single generic example for all our customers.

A report is completed using software installed on engineers’ mobile devices for each piece of equipment, and a traffic light rating assigned to indicate its condition.

Afterwards, we’ll send to you a digital pack that includes a report for each asset that details any work we’ve done, recommendations for future tasks or repairs, a leak check certificate, and a full refrigerant list.
