Evaporative Cooling System
“Cooling with Nature - The most energy-efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly method to cool large spaces”
Get in touchIndustrial Cooling Equipment are an approved distributor and installer of the market-leading Seeley International evaporative cooling systems.
Evaporative cooling or adiabatic cooling is the most energy-efficient way to cool large spaces with high heat loads such as production halls, bakeries, warehouses, pharmaceutical drug storage (MHRA), printers etc.
These systems use evaporation to cool the air using only water and no chemical refrigerants. As there is no large compressor, evaporative air conditioners use far less electricity compared to conventional refrigerated systems.
During colder ambient months, if cooling is still needed the coolers can be run on ventilation only mode to provide ‘free cooling’. Evaporative systems can save you up to 80% on running costs compared to conventional DX air conditioning systems, as the only power-consuming components are the fan and a small water pump.
Warm, dry air from outside is drawn through water-soaked cooling pads. As the warm air passes through the cooling pads, the water evaporates and the heat in the air is absorbed, which in turn lowers the temperature of the air. A fan then pushes the cool air through supply ductwork into the space to be conditioned. Working in conjunction with the evaporative cooling unit, which is bringing in 100% cool fresh air, is an extraction system usually via a series of extract fans installed along the apex of the building, removing hot stale air.
Indirect evaporative air conditioners work in a similar way to direct evaporative systems but use a hyper-efficient heat exchanger to cool outside air without adding moisture. The warm outside air travels through a heat exchanger without coming into direct contact with the moistened cooling pads. The 100% fresh cold air produced by indirect evaporative coolers can be similar to that produced by refrigerated systems but uses up to 80% less energy.
Indirect evaporative air conditioners are ideal for applications such as data centre cooling or production areas where lower humidity levels are required. Indirect evaporative coolers cover an exceptionally large range of flexible configurations in a wide range of industries.
The are many benefits to using evaporative cooling but with the energy prices rising and the current situation with Covid-19 focusing on bringing more fresh air into buildings, there has never been a better time to invest in evaporative cooling.
