Air Conditioning Installation
Hooton Bio Power is a brand new waste recycling facility built in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The facility processes 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum and generate 25.2 MW of electricity which is exported to the grid after the facility’s own power needs are met. The power station recycles generates electricity for 50,000 homes in the area.
Cooling was required to several sensitive control room areas, with high heatloads throughout of the power station.
Heatloads on this project were provided by the client so equipment had to be selected to meet the requirements.
The client requested single split systems so that should a system fail or require servicing, the remaining units within the area/room would still maintain the desired temperature.
The installation of 27 Daikin inverter driven single split systems of varying duty from 3.5kW to 25kW were installed across the Power Station. In one Low Voltage control room alone, 150kW of cooling was installed and all controlled and monitored by the sites BMS system.
This project run by our Head of Projects Lee Hopkins and was installed using several in house teams. Work was carried out in stages over a 6 month period and completed and commissioned in Spring 2021.
Due to the complex installation and a tight programme of works, ICE excelled an delivered the project on time during periods where over 2500 other contractors were on site of varying skillsets and industries from all over Europe.
The European construction company were impressed with our installation and our work ethics and have recently invited us back to carry out service work and discuss maintenance for the whole of the power station that falls under our expertise.
