ICE Ltd is proud to announce that our apprentice, Sam Jones, has secured the Silver Medal at the prestigious WorldSkills UK RACHP Competition, following the national finals held this week in Newport.
Sam earned his place at the national competition earlier this year after successfully qualifying at the regional finals held at the NEC, where he stood out among strong competition from across the country. His performance in the regional stage set the benchmark for what would become an exceptional journey through to the national finals.
During the national competition in Newport, Sam competed against the top apprentices and trainees in the UK, completing demanding technical tasks under pressure, within strict time limits, and to exact industry standards. The competition tests not only technical ability, but also problem-solving, accuracy, time management, and professionalism — all areas in which Sam excelled.
Winning the Silver Medal at such a highly regarded national competition is a significant achievement, reflecting Sam’s dedication, hard work, and passion for the industry. It is also a proud moment for ICE Ltd and the engineers who have mentored Sam throughout his apprenticeship. Their training, guidance, and commitment to developing future talent have played a key role in helping Sam reach this level of success.
Sam’s achievement is a powerful example of the high standards that ICE Ltd sets for its apprenticeship programme. It demonstrates the quality of training, support, and real-world experience provided to our apprentices, as well as the calibre of engineers we continue to develop within the business. We believe that investing in people is essential to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, technical excellence, and service for our clients.
As if this remarkable success was not enough, Sam has also been confirmed as a finalist for the Trainee of the Year Award at the upcoming ACR & Heat Pump Awards, which will be held in Leeds on 4th December. Notably, he will be sharing this nomination alongside his colleague Luc Dwyer, who successfully completed his apprenticeship this year. Being shortlisted for this award places both Sam and Luc among the very best trainees in the industry and further highlights the exceptional standard of talent being developed at ICE Ltd.
We would like to congratulate Sam on his outstanding achievement and thank the engineers and mentors who have supported him throughout his journey. Sam’s success is not only a personal milestone, but also a reflection of ICE Ltd’s ongoing commitment to developing skilled professionals and supporting the future of our industry.
We wish both Sam and Luc the very best of luck at the ACR & Heat Pump Awards and look forward to seeing what they both achieve next in their careers.
