During a routine maintenance visit to a gaming company in Manchester, it was highlighted that the air flow coming from a wall mounted air conditioning unit was significantly reduced.

The unit was old, and mould had formed on the fan impeller and on the inside of the unit.

Scope of work

Following the maintenance visit it was highlighted within our maintenance pack that a deep clean of the air conditioning system was required, and a quotation was sent to the client.

The client proceeded with the quotation and the works were arranged with the client at a suitable date.

How ICE helped

The deep clean of the air conditioning system was assigned to our Service Engineer Harry James for continuity as he was engineer that diagnosed the issue.

The unit was electrically isolated and stripped down, with the casings, filters and fan impellor removed. The indoor evaporator coil was then exposed and sprayed with Easycare evaporator cleaner from Advanced engineering, along with the fan impellor and filters. After 10 minutes, the cleaner was rinsed off using a jetwash.

The casings were cleaned with disinfectant and polished with case cleaner. The unit was then reassembled and sprayed with OdourGuard to provide protection from odours and unpleasant smells.

The system was then recommissioned and left working.

Results

Following the repair, the system was left clean and free from bacteria and fungi.

The airflow from the unit has significantly improved and the system is running a lot more efficiently.
